12-year-old Girl Dies, After Falling Into Domestic Well

Residents of Busari Alao Street, Ikoyi community, Irewolede area of Ilorin in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State are presently in mourning mood as 12 –year-old girl nemed Nabilat, reportedly fell into a domestic well and was recovered dead.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on the morning of Saturday at about 10:35 am when the State Fire Service brigade was called by one Mr Mayowa, who lives in the neighbourhood.

It was also gathered that the young girl had gone to fetch water when one of her legs suddenly slipped during the process, causing her to tumble into the well.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed the incident on behalf of the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa.

According to Adekunle, the firemen were only able to recover the dead body from the well, which was later handed over to a family member of the deceased.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness over the incident and called on the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities.

Olumuyiwa added that they should desist from sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells.
