Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)Minister Nyesom Wike, on Sunday, 13 July, 2025 confirmed that National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure paid a visit to his principal in Abuja, reports the Business Today NG
The development comes amid an internal crisis within the LP.
Recall that earlier this month, Abure’s faction of the party issued an ultimatum demanding that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, should leave the party within 48 hours after Obi joined the ADC-led coalition, just as it also announced its intention to expel the former governor of Anambra State.
The faction loyal to Obi, led by Nenadi Usman, In his response countered that the national leadership had officially sanctioned Obi’s participation in the coalition. She also labelled Abure’s faction as illegitimate and politically motivated.
Recall that Business Today NG reports that on July 2, 2025, leading opposition politicians, including Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, and former Senate President David Mark, officially launched the coalition under the ADC platform.
