2027: Taraba Govt Denies Nomination Of New Deputy Gov

Taraba State government has denied rumours making the round that it had nominated the incumbent deputy speaker of the state Assembly, Hamman-Adama Adamu, as the new deputy governor of the state.
The state commissioner for information, Zainab Jalingo, who stated this while briefing newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital,  described the information as misleading, a big lie
According to the Commissioner,  there is no vacancy in the office of the deputy governor and that the current deputy governor, Aminu Alkali, remains the duly elected deputy governor of Taraba State.
The commissioner in the statement, therefore, called on the public to remain calm and to rely on verified information from official government communication channels.
“The attention of the Taraba State Government has been drawn to rumour making the rounds on social and traditional media suggesting that His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, has nominated Alhaji Hamman Adama as the new Deputy Governor of the state.
“This claim is entirely false, misleading, wicked and should be disregarded by the public in its entirety.
“We wish to categorically state that there is no vacancy in the office of the Deputy Governor. The current Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, remains the duly elected Deputy Governor of Taraba State,” the commissioner said.
The commissioner also added that the process of replacing a Deputy Governor, as contained in the Nigerian Constitution, is clear, due legislative and constitutional procedures is required and such process has not been initiated or contemplated at this time.
Jalingo, said state government remain focused on delivering good governance and will not be distracted by unfounded speculations.
“We urge the public to remain calm and to rely only on verified information from official Government communication channels. The process of replacing a Deputy Governor, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution, is clear, due legislative and constitutional procedures is required. No such process has been initiated or contemplated at this time.
“The Taraba State Government remains focused on delivering good governance and will not be distracted by unfounded speculations,” she added.
