BREAKING: Thugs of Suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege invade Nigerian senate plenary, snatch mace

Thugs suspected to be loyal to the suspended Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Ovie Omo-Agege have invaded the red chambers and forcefully taken away the mace.

They broke into the chambers when plenary was going on, thereby creating serious confusion and tension.

It all started when  Omo-Agege entered the chamber, snatched the mace and gave it to one of the thugs.
The thug with the mace threatened to attack any senator who tried to retrieve the mace from him.
He was shouting: “If you come near me, I will hit you. We are from Niger Delta. Don’t dare us”.
Senators watched as if hypnotized as Omo-Agege and the thugs took the mace away.
Everything happened in about two minutes.
Immediately, the Senate went into an executive session to deliberate on the next line of action.
Security has been heightened in the National Assembly.

It could be recalled that Omo-Agege was suspended last week following his role in the electoral act amendment bill seeking to reorder the election sequence.

This development has, hitherto, thrown the Senate, and the entire National Assembly into uproar and fear of what really happened.

The snatched mace is the symbol of authority and the Senate consequently can no longer legitimately hold plenary.

Discussions right now is being held in groups and hush tones as to what might be the next line of action.

This development happened as the Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu was presiding over the plenary in the absence of the Senate President, senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
