33 Killed in Cattle Rustling Attack in Kebbi

BY SUNDAY SAMUEL—No fewer than 33 persons have been confirmed dead following a violent cattle rustling attack in Bui District of Arewa Local Government Area.

The Kebbi State Police Command said the incident occurred on February 18, 2025, adding that security operatives, in collaboration with the military, have since intensified operations in the area to restore calm and track down the perpetrators.

Preliminary investigations indicate that suspected Lakurawa armed militants crossed into the district from Gudu Local Government Area in Sokoto State.

Local residents mobilized to respond to the attack, leading to the fatal confrontation.

The Command expresses its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Arewa community. Residents are urged to report any suspicious movements and to avoid direct confrontation with armed criminals.

Targeted operations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent a recurrence of the incident.
