The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed that the officers implicated in the fatal shooting of a civilian in Effurun, Delta State, be removed from duty and brought before the court for prosecution.

He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force will not condone any form of unlawful killing or abuse of firearms.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the IGP condemned the incident involving Mene Ogidi, describing it as unfortunate, illegal, and totally unacceptable.

He explained that the officer at the centre of the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman, breached established police guidelines on the use of firearms.

Disu also stated that all personnel connected to the incident have been recalled and moved to Abuja to face internal disciplinary processes.
