BY NKECHI NAECHE-–The federal government on Friday announced the appointment of Mr. Sunday Thomas as the acting Commissioner for insurance, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) pending the appointment of a substantive Commissioner for insurance.
This is contained in a circular titled: “Re Handing Over Note: Appointment of Acting Comissioner for Insurance” signed by the deputy director, Home Finance for the permanent Secretary, federal ministry of finance, Mr A. O. Bello with reference no NAICOM/FMF/DCTO/002 dated 2nd August, that he will oversee the affairs of the commission.
The letter added that the appointment is to ensure the effective administration of the commission in line with the provisions of the National Insurance Commission Act 1997.To oversee the affairs of the commission, pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner for insurance by the president.
