The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) has launched a campaign to boost insurance penetration in the county.

Dubbed: “The Drivetime with Insurers’ the campaign which is a radio programme will be used to discuss concerns of the public about the insurance industry and educate them on the importance of insurance.

The radio programme will run for thirteen weeks on selected radio stations across the country.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Insurance Commissioner, Kofi Andoh commended the GIA and charged members of the association to promote it to the best of their abilities.

“This is a laudable idea and a complement to the National Insurance Commission’s effort to improve the insurance penetration rate. I encourage everyone here to send the message out,” he said.

He outlined some initiatives by the NIC to achieve the same purpose including the efforts to improve marine insurance and agricultural insurance.

Madam Aretha Duku, President of the Ghana Insurers Association was hopeful the move will help improve insurance education in the country.

“Drive time with insurers I believe will not totally eradicate the problem of poor education, but will help improve it and hence boost insurance penetration.

The campaign is a collaboration between the Ghana Insurers Association and the National Insurance Commission
