BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–Following deadly COVID-19 disease affecting the global world, the Executive Council of African Insurance Organisation (AIO) has moved the 47th general assembly of AIO scheduled to from May to October 3rd-7th, 2020 in Lagos, Nigeria.
According to statement signed both by both the President Delphine Traore and the Secretary General, Jean Baptiste Ntukamazina of the Organisation and made available to BusinessToday Online, that the decision was reached on the 20th of March by the committee that delegates who have registered and paid, their payment will be automatically carried forward to the conference.
The committee also agreed that the 2020 African Reinsurance forum be moved to next year, 2021 and will be held in Kigali, Rwanda.
Similarly, the forum initially scheduled to be held in Lomé in 2021 will be organized in 2022 still in Lomé.
The statement added that the Executive Committee will continue to monitor the situation and shall inform its me in case of any developments.
The Executive Committee and AIO Secretariat hereby take this opportunity to send a message of Support and solidarity to all our members and partners who are affected in one way or another by the Coronavirus ( COVID-19) pandemic.
