Reinsurance Solutions Group, an independent African-owned reinsurance broking group, has launched a new subsidiary Reinsurance Solutions Intermediary Services (RSIS) in South Africa.

The Financial Sector Conduct Authority granted the new company its licence in June 2020.

RSIS consists of a team of brokers serving blue-chip insurance clients in Southern Africa and Lusophone countries, including Angola, Botswana, Cape Verde, eSwatini, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Sao Tome & Principe, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Products and services include facultative placements, treaty placements, captive solutions as well as underwriting and policy pricing reviews.

The office will be led by Cameron Cupido as CEO. He brings over 20 years’ experience in re/insurance.

“With the effects of world events really starting to be felt in South Africa, and with our reinsurance industry being quite limited, there was an excellent opportunity for us to bring to market a new player with new offerings,” said Mr Cupido.
