NAIC To Deploy Drone To Enhance Service Delivery

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–In a bid to improve its service development in agric Insurance business, the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) has said is  on the verge of deploying drone to inspect and monitor farm lands against flood and insecurity.

Folashade Joseph, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company disclosed this to BusinessToday Online on the side line of just concluded 47th African Insurance Organization Conference and National Assembly held in Lagos, Nigeria.

According to her it is one of it’s strategies aimed at improving it’s services delivery to Policyholders, adding that although the drone have not yet been deployed due to some restrictions such as licensing. 

She assured that once the issue of licensing and registration are completed they will deploy the drone  to commence  work.

She also disclosed that they are working on farmers data that will enable operators to work more effective.

According to her “for this business to be effective and sustainable we must be able to have farmers data that we all can use.

“If  we have this it will help us to monitor our farm processes, storage etc. it will also help us as an insurance company in the agric sector to deploy products that will be useful to the agric sector.

“Data for farmers will helps us know how many farmers we have in each state and what each person is into such as agric, rice production, maize, cassava etc. This  is very important so that we can effectively monitor and improve on our processes.

She further explained thst the index insurance can’t operate effectively without accurate  data.

” Is only when we have the correct data which we will improve every year that we can effectively achieve our objectives. That’s key to us in NAIC and we have spoken to our supervising ministry and other stakeholders like CBN, statistics to get a near perfect data.”
