FRSC Lagos Sector Command commemorated the 4th edition of United Nations World Bicycle Day with FT Cycle Club Lekki today 3rd June, 2022.
The cyclist who rode from Lekki to Ikeja joined the Command at the Lagos State Governors Office, Lagos House Alausa Ikeja.
The Sector Commander Lagos CC Olusegun Ogungbemide, Zonal and Sector Staff, Special Marshals and the Cyclist were received on arrival to the Lagos State Governors , Honorable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources Hon. Olalere Odusote who was accompanied by Secretary to Lagos State Chief of Staff Mrs. Temitope Opeagbe and other members of Lagos House.
The event had in attendance the Zonal PRS DCC Mccharm Sambo, Zonal MVAA DCC Odugbesan, the Unit Commander RS2.16 Ikeja ACC Emma Fekoya.
The Sector Commander in his welcome address appreciated the Lagos State Government for always in support of the activities of FRSC in Lagos. He said that the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly held on the 16th April 2018, resolved and declared 3rd of June, every year as World Bicycle Day, for being simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit.
In his remarks, the rep of Mr Governor, Honourable Olalere Odusote, Commissioner for Energy and Minerals Resources, congratulated everyone that participated in this year bicycle day, themed: ‘Cycling for Earth and Humanity’.
He informed the gathering that Lagos state government has keyed into the United Nations Sustainable development goal of reducing green gas emissions in the state. He mentioned also that the state has launched a pilot phase for Lagos bike share scheme with 1,000 bikes.
He used the medium to appealed to motorists to exercise caution and give due consideration to the safety of bicycle riders on our Roads.
The team proceeded to the Lagos Television Office LTV, Alausa Ikeja in continuation of the commemoration.
The Sector Commander and the team were received on arrival by rep of GM LTV, Mr. Toye Olagoke Director Marketing.
