CIIN Releases 65th Anniversary Compendium

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), on Tuesday announced the publication of the 65th Anniversary Compendium of the Insurance Institute in Nigeria.

According to statement released by the institute, the publication is a comprehensive compilation that chronicles the remarkable journey and significant milestones of the insurance industry in Nigeria since its inception.

It added that is a landmark publication, aims to honor the rich history of the insurance sector, celebrate the contributions of key stakeholders, and provide insights into the future of insurance in the country.

It noted that the publication highlights the evolution of insurance products, regulatory advancements, and the impressive growth in market participation over the decades.

The Institute President/Chairman of Council, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, applauded the foundation laid by the founding members of the Institute and other insurance practitioners who sacrificed and invested so much effort in the establishment of the Institute.

She said “I must commend our fore fathers, without their sacrifices, we would definitely not have CIIN celebrating 65 years today, it is against this backdrop, the compendium is published to celebrate them.”

Also, she congratulated the staff members of the Institute from inception till date for the continuous effort in making the Institute achieve the purpose of its establishment.

“The main goal and objectives of the Institute is to maintain ethical standards amongst Insurance Practitioners and providing efficient manpower for the Nigerian Insurance Industry.

“We have over the years, worked within this scope of establishment, the Institute conducts qualifying examinations twice a year; April and October Diets, some of our members are now practitioners outside Nigeria, our examinations are written within and outside the Nigerian territory”.

Also, Registrar of the Institute, Mrs. Abimbola Tiamiyu shared her thoughts on the publication, that is very apt at the moment, considering the landmark age of the Institute, she appreciated the League of Past Presidents who supported the publication with artifacts and historical recordings from their wealth of experience and knowledge.

“We have been able to achieve a lot within the space of 65 years due to competent hands working at the Institute.”

She submitted that it is pertinent to recognise the group of individuals commissioned to work on the 65th Anniversary Compendium through the approval of the Institute Council under the Presidency of Mrs. Ilori.

While noting that the document, will be a valuable historical record of the Institute for generations to come being a reference tool.

The Institute was founded September 1, 1959 by Article and Memorandum of Association, the Institute earlier known and referred to as Insurance Institute of Nigeria until February 26, 1993 when it became Chartered vide Decree (Now Act) No. 22 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
