The Federal Government has commenced the construction of a 17.55km access road to the Second Niger Bridge in Asaba, aimed at improving connectivity between the South-South and South-East regions. The project, under Phase 2A, aligns with the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
At the flag-off ceremony, Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, praised Delta State’s proactive development efforts and highlighted other key national road projects. He assured stakeholders that the approved 9km extension of the Benin-Asaba Expressway would enhance accessibility to the bridge.
To ensure security and longevity, CCTV surveillance and solar-powered streetlights will be installed. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori emphasized the project’s economic significance, stressing collaboration among stakeholders for its success.
With 30% of the contract sum secured, strict monitoring will be enforced to guarantee timely completion. The Governor called on contractors to maintain high standards, describing the project as a “legacy of progress” for future generations and a testament to the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to national development.
