The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday said it has identified and detained an inspector who assaulted a taxi driver in the Ketu area of the State.
This is contained in a system made available by Spokesperson for the Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident occurred on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m. in the Ketu area of Lagos.
The statement reads further: “ The Inspector, who is attached to the Ketu Division, has been identified and brought to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the Command.
He has since been handed over to the Provost Department for detention, orderly room trial and further disciplinary action in accordance with the Nigeria Police Force’s internal regulations.
The outcome of the trial will certainly be made public.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on unprofessional conduct and acts of incivility toward members of the public. Such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values and standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Lagos State Police Command assures the public that thorough investigation will be carried out into the incident and appropriate disciplinary measures will be applied to ensure justice is done in the matter.
“The Command remains committed to upholding professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights and human dignity of all Lagosians.”
