The National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Ezechi Chukwu, has called federal government release the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, after four years in detention, reports Business TodayNG
Chukwu, who made the call through a statement issued on Friday, 27 June, 2025 in Enugu, pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to use his constitutional powers and diplomatic instruments to free Kanu in the spirit of equity, fairness and inclusive justice.
Ohanaeze’s image maker added further that it was exactly four years since the arrest and detention of Kany in Kenya, before he was extradited to Nigeria.
“The question of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention poses a moral burden on the corporate integrity of the Nigerian judicial system.
“Since his process of extradition from Kenya is unlawful and the basis for his arraignment questionable, one wonders the rational for detaining Kanu for four years without justice,” he said.
