2025 VMAS: Burna Boy, Asake Bag Multiple Nominations As Lady Gaga Tops List

Things are indeed looking good for the two famous Nigerian music super stars-Burna Boy and Asake as they are the joint most-nominated African artists for the MTV 2025 Video Music Awards, with two nominations each, reports Business Today NG
Burna Boy was nominated in the Video For Good category for ‘Higher’ and the Best Afrobeats category for ‘Tatata’ featuring Travis Scott, while Asake was nominated twice in the Best Afrobeats category for ‘Active’ featuring Travis Scott and ‘Get It Right’ with Tems.
Others from the African contingent – Rema, Moliy, Tems, Wizkid and Tyla – received one nomination each in the Best Afrobeats category, except for Ayra Starr, who was nominated in the MTV PUSH Performance of the Year category for ‘Last Heartbreak Song’.
Overall, American singer Lady Gaga lead the nominees with 12 nominations including Best Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year.
MTV 2025 Video Music Awards will be held on September 7 at the USB Arena in New York.
