Police Rescues 2 -years-old Boy From Kidnaper, Arrest Suspect In Yobe

Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have arrested a 24-year-old suspected kidnapper and rescued a two-year-old boy in Potiskum town.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Aliyu from Kakuri, Kaduna State, was tracked down and apprehended in Kaduna after an intensive investigation.

According to the police, the incident occurred on July 31, 2025, when the victim, Abdulkareem Mohd, was abducted and his father, Mohammed Ishayaku, was issued a ransom demand of ₦2 million. The suspect is also believed to be linked to similar kidnapping cases in other states.

“Swift police action led to the safe rescue of the toddler and the arrest of the suspect,” the statement read.

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the officers for their swift response and reiterated the command’s determination to combat crime across the state. He also urged parents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The command assured residents of its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
