President Bola Tinubu arrived in Tokyo, Japan, for a series of official engagements.
The President is in Japan for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.
In a statement emanating from the State House on Monday, 18 August, 2025, said Tinubu’s aircraft touched down at Haneda Airport around 1 a.m., where he was received by Japan’s Ambassador in charge of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, Ambassador Hideo Matsubara.
Business Today NG reported last week that Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced that, beyond the plenary sessions at the conference, Tinubu will hold bilateral meetings and engage with the chief executives of Japanese companies investing in Nigeria.
Onanuga lso stated that after the Japan engagement, President Tinubu will proceed to Brasília for a two-day state visit from Sunday, August 24, to Monday, August 25, at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
