Niger Gov Sacks Commissioners, Orders Perm Sec To Take Over

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, on Monday, 1 September, 2025 announced the dissolution of his cabinet, ordering the Permanent Secretaries to take over affairs of the ministries pending when new commissioners will be inaugurated.

Bago, however, retained the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and other principal officers in his office.
The governor made the announcement on Monday through a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.
Bago made this known on Monday during the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber, Minna.
“He appreciated them for the services they had so far rendered towards the development of the state and wished them the best in their future endeavours.
“The farmer governor, however, said he has retained his Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and other principal officers in his office,” Ibrahim stated.
The dissolved cabinet was appointed at the inception of his administration in 2023
