Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday held a meeting with key stakeholders of the opposition coalition at his Abuja residence.

The meeting comes barely 24 hours after Atiku revealed he had also met with former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

The former presidential candidate who confirmed the development via his social media handles, disclosed  that attendees included Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar (rtd.), Senator Halliru Jika, and Senator Sulaiman Nazif Gamawa, all from Bauchi State.

“Today, I held a meeting with stakeholders of the coalition from Bauchi State, including Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar, Senator Halliru Jika, and Senator Sulaiman Nazif Gamawa, at my residence in Abuja,” he wrote.

According to Atiku,  the discussions are focused on strengthening a broad coalition to confront what he described as the “anti-democratic forces” of the Tinubu-led APC administration.

“We will be unrelenting in defending the rights of every Nigerian being harassed by anti-democratic forces of the Tinubu-led APC administration. The coalition that we are pushing is aimed at rescuing our democracy from the stranglehold of this emerging dictatorship. We shall be deliberate in joining hands in saving our democracy,” Atiku had earlier said.

The opposition movement has continued to gather momentum since July when the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was formally adopted by the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
