Cardoso Leads Nigeria’s Delegation to World Bank–IMF Annual Meetings In Washington, D.C.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the 2025 World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings holding in Washington, D.C., which officially opened on Monday, October 13.

Cardoso, serving as Nigeria’s Alternate Governor for the institutions, is representing the country in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.

Also on the Nigerian delegation is the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.

According to the World Bank, the weeklong Annual Meetings will feature high-level sessions including the Development Committee Plenary scheduled for October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meeting on October 17.

The meetings will also feature regional briefings, press conferences, and thematic forums focusing on international development, global economic stability, climate finance, and the future of financial markets.

The World Bank–IMF Annual Meetings provide a platform for policymakers, central bankers, private sector leaders, and development experts to discuss strategies for addressing global economic challenges, strengthening financial systems, and promoting inclusive growth.
