Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Thursday warned Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and other All Progressive Congress(APC) members should prepare to die over their clandestine plans to manipulate the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Otti added they should bury the thought, saying the will of God and the people will decide the outcome.
His warning comes amid early political manoeuvrings ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.
The Labour Party(LP) governor ended over two decades of the Peoples Democratic Party’s dominance in the state after his victory in the 2023 poll.
The governor, who handed down the warning on Thursday during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians held at the Government House, Umuahia, in a video shared on Channels Television’s YouTube page, said while he has no problem with anyone contesting, those plotting to rig the election should be ready to face the consequences.
“I have heard that some people around him say oh, they must take over this state, they must write results but the only advice I have for them is that if they truly want to write results, they should write something else before that time,” Otti said.
The governor was responding to a question about recent remarks credited to the Deputy Speaker Kalu, who reportedly said that the APC would take over Abia in 2027.
According to the governor, he has no problem with anyone contesting, those plotting to rig the election should be ready to face the consequences.
