Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested 63-year-old man, Mohammed Sani, while attempting to steal a motorcycle, popularly known as Bajaj, in the state.
The Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the arrest in a crime bulletin on Sunday, said incident occurred last Sunday at Tungan-Kawo village in Kontagora Local Government Area, where Sani was caught in the act of stealing the motorcycle.
According to Abiodun, when the police apprehended him, he was found in possession of a bunch of motorcycle keys, which the police said he used to steal motorcycles.
The owner of the motorcycle was later identified, while Sani confessed to the crime and was subsequently charged to court.
“On 12 October 2025, at about 11:45 a.m., a police patrol team attached to ‘B’ Division, Kontagora, in collaboration with vigilante members, intercepted and arrested one Mohammed Sani, 63, of Tungan-Gero, Mashegu Local Government Area.
“The suspect was arrested at Tungan-Kawo village while attempting to steal a Bajaj motorcycle. He was found with a bunch of motorcycle keys, which he used to steal motorcycles.
“He confessed to the crime, and the owner of the motorcycle was later identified. The suspect has been charged to court for prosecution, ” the state police image-maker said in the bulleting.
