BY TIMOTHY AMBROSE —As part of measures to combat crime and criminality in the state, operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers.
Bauchi State Police Command Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil, who confirmed the development through a statement on Tuesday, said the arrest followed a report received by operatives attached to the C’ Division Police Headquarters, Bauchi.
“On 22nd October 2025, one Na’ima Saleh, female, aged 30 years, of Nursing Quarters, Muda Lawal area, Bauchi, reported at C’ Division Police Headquarters that on the same date, one Abdulmalik Ismail, male, aged 19 years, of Karofin Madaki area, Bauchi, criminally trespassed into her residence by scaling the fence, proceeded to the kitchen, picked up a knife, and attempted to rob her
“The victim raised an alarm, which attracted neighbours who pursued and apprehended the suspect at the scene.”Wakil said
The state police image-maker added that a Redmi mobile phone was recovered from the suspect, adding that further investigation revealed that the phone had earlier been stolen from its rightful owner, one Sadiyya Kabir, a female aged 30 years, of Bauchi.
According to him, the first robbery occurred on October 16, 2024, when the suspect allegedly invaded Sadiyya’s house, armed with a knife, and carted away the mobile phone, its purchase receipt, and its original pack.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned one Abubakar Saleh, male, aged 20 years, of Doya area, Bauchi, as his accomplice. Abubakar Saleh was subsequently arrested and also confessed to his involvement in the robbery operation,” the statement added.
Wakil, who listed exhibits recovered from the suspects to include one Jincheng motorcycle, two knives, and one Redmi GSM phone, said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
