The anti-graft agency, which confirmed the arrest of the suspects through a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Saturday, said the arrests followed allegations by the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress, Chioma Ifemeludike, who claimed that there was widespread vote buying during the exercise.
The statement read, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested three suspected vote buyers in various parts of Anambra.
“The suspects are: Emeka Ilokasia, arrested at Ward 2, Njikoka Local Government Area; Nwachukwu Loretta, arrested at Ward 2 (008), Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area; and Emuka Chuwudi, arrested at Umunachi Village, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
