PenCom, NSIWC Launch Nationwide Sensitization On Pension Reforms, Unveils Milestone

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR—The National Pension Commission (PenCom) in collaboration with National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) held a nationwide sensitization workshop on the workings of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) for Pension Desk Officers (PDOs) and retirees across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

PenCom disclosed this via its official X Account that the Director General of PenCom, Ms.

Omolola Oloworaran highlighted the remarkable progress of the CPS, which now covers over 10 million Nigerians and manages pension assets in excess of ₦25 trillion, translating to regular retirement benefits and pensions for over 844,000 retirees.

She announced key reforms, including Pension Boost 1.0, zero waiting time for pension payments, the reintroduction of gratuity for civil servants, and free health insurance for retirees.

Ms. Oloworaran reaffirmed PenCom’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and retirees’ welfare, urging all stakeholders to collaborate in building a pension system that guarantees dignity and security for all Nigerian workers.
