Three Die, Five Injure in Ibadan Gas Explosion

No fewer than three lost their lives, while five others sustained injuries following a gas explosion at Bioku Alaadun Street, Amuloko, Ibadan,Oyo State capital on Friday Night.

It was gathered the explosion occurred while a tanker, a Mercedes Axor gas truck, registration number Lagos LSR 268 YC, was dispensing gas into a retailer’s container.
The blast instantly killed Kehinde Olalani, Adio Taofiq, and another person whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

.Five others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while the retail shop was completely destroyed and several nearby buildings damaged.

A team of operatives led by Supol Akanran promptly cordoned off the area, allowing the fire service to extinguish the flames.

The General Manager, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in an interview with a national newsmedium.
He noted that ” contrary to the claim by some that several people lost their lives, three lives were lost, including the shop owner and those dispensing the gas.”
He added that operatives were promptly deployed to contain the situation.
