Ebonyi Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Rapes Student At EBSU Secondary School

Operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old man, Nzube Odo, on suspicion of raping a female student of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) Secondary School in Abakaliki, the state capital.

It was gathered that the suspect had previously allegedly sexually assaulted other female students from the same school.

Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the arrest of Odo on Saturday, disclosed that that the suspect was apprehended on Friday, November 21, following a report of the incident which allegedly occurred during school hours.

“The suspect is presently in our custody undergoing interrogation as investigations continue,” Ukandu said, just as he also reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual violence and urged members of the public to desist from all forms of rape while collectively protecting the girl-child.

According to the state police image-maker, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Adaku Uche-Anya, the command pledged continued efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

The state police publicist assured the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and the suspect prosecuted if found culpable.
