The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has frowned at the deadly attack carried out by unidentified armed men on the Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint, under the TUGA Border Patrol Formation in Kebbi State.

According to statement released by ACI A.S. Akinlabi, the NIS Public Relations Officer, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, K.N. Nandap, said the attack occurred on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

She expressed deep sorrow over the incident, noting that “three gallant NIS personnel lost their lives in the line of duty. Several operational assets and facilities at the location were also destroyed.”

The statement added “That the Service offered its heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the fallen personnel,” praising their selfless service and dedication to protecting Nigeria’s borders.

Following the attack, the Comptroller-General ordered an immediate tactical response, including the deployment of reinforcements, intensified joint operations with other security agencies, and heightened intelligence activities along the TUGA corridor.

She reassured  that “The Nigeria Immigration Service remains resolute in its mandate to secure the nation’s borders and will not be deterred by acts of criminality.”
