BY EBERE MADUEKE—Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has re-nominated all former members of his cabinet—including commissioners and special advisers recently relieved of their positions—for screening by the State House of Assembly.

According to a statement, the decision followed consultations with the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other key stakeholders. The move is intended to ensure party unity ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election, as appointing an entirely new team barely seven months before the polls could be “counter-productive.”

The list of nominees, forwarded to the Speaker of the House, Adeoye Aribasoye, for consideration and confirmation, includes:

• Mrs. Peju Babafemi (former Head of Service)

• Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun (former Commissioner for Information)

• Mr. Dapo Karounwi (former Deputy Speaker)

• Mrs. Tosin Aluko (former Ado Local Government Chairman)

• Mr. Folorunso Olabode (former Commissioner for Agriculture)

• Prof. Rasaki Bakare (immediate past Commissioner for Culture and Tourism)

The Assembly has commenced the screening process.
