The U.S. delegation from the Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria has expressed strong interest in understanding the underlying drivers of the crisis and support initiatives aimed at mitigating conflict and fostering social harmony in Nigeria.

The U.S. delegation led by Deputy Political Counsellor Dianna Palequin, accompanied by the Embassy’s Human Rights Officer and Dave Young, gave the affirmation of support on Friday in Abuja, when the delegation paid a courtesy call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement North Central, Dr. Abiodun Essiet.

The meeting centred on the President’s ongoing community engagement initiatives, coordinated through the host official’s office, to promote peace and strengthen social cohesion across the Middle Belt.

Both sides underscored the urgent need for enhanced collaboration to address the persistent security challenges affecting communities in the region.

Responding, Dr. Essiet expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s continued commitment to peacebuilding efforts in Nigeria, adding that President Tinubu led administration is doing all that is humanly possible to ensure that Nigerians have safe and peaceful life.

Recall, Dr. Essiet as part of her Office’s community engagement in fostering peace and social cohesion had a meeting with where she had a mind probing discussion surrounding the importance of fostering peace and social cohesion.
