The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed an abduction incident in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following detailed verification by operational and intelligence units.

The Force, in a statement, acknowledged the concern and anxiety generated by initial reports of the incident, assuring the public that the safety of citizens remains its highest priority. It explained that upon receiving the report, the Kaduna State Governor convened a meeting of the State Security Council at the Government House, Kaduna, during which conflicting accounts from individuals in the affected local government area created uncertainty over the incident.

According to the Police, some participants at the meeting disputed earlier reports that had indicated an abduction, reinforcing the need for caution and thorough verification before making definitive public statements on such a sensitive issue.

The Police clarified that comments made by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, during a media interaction were intended to prevent public panic while facts were being confirmed. The Force stressed that the remarks were not a denial of the incident but a measured response pending confirmation of details, including the identities and number of victims.

Subsequent intelligence and field operations, however, confirmed that the abduction did occur. Following this confirmation, the Nigeria Police Force activated coordinated security operations in collaboration with other security agencies, with a focus on locating and safely rescuing the victims and restoring calm to the area.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has since ordered the deployment of tactical and intelligence units to Kajuru and neighbouring communities. The measures include intensified patrols, targeted search-and-rescue operations, and proactive steps to protect lives and property.

The Police appealed to the public and the media to remain patient and rely on official channels for verified information, warning that speculation or sensational reporting could jeopardise ongoing operations.

The Force reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of all citizens and said it would provide updates as investigations and rescue efforts continue.
