The House of Representatives has dismissed the ad-hoc committee set up by the Minority Caucus to probe allegations of alterations in parts of the recently passed tax laws.

In a statement, House Spokesman Akin Rotimi clarified that the power to establish an ad-hoc committee for legislative oversight lies exclusively with the Speaker and the House sitting in plenary.

He stressed that any investigation initiated by the Minority Caucus does not have the approval of the House and is inconsistent with the established parliamentary procedures outlined in the Standing Orders.

The House reiterated that a bipartisan ad-hoc committee, constituted before the recess to examine the alleged modifications to the tax laws, will conduct a comprehensive investigation and present its findings to the House in plenary.
