The Defence Headquarters Nigeria says more than 122,000 insurgents have surrendered to troops under Owperation Hadin Kai since the establishment of the Operation Safe Corridor deradicalisation programme in 2015, describing the development as a major milestone in Nigeria’s counter-insurgency operations against terrorist groups including Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja who stated this in a statement adds that troops deployed in the operational theaters conducted a series of successful clearance operations, and rapid response missions across all theatre of operations.
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, maintained pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters, repelling attacks and targeting their supply chains.
Major General Onoja stress that the outcomes of the operations underscore the commitment of the Armed Forces to sustaining pressure on terrorist and criminal groups across the country.
