The Lagos State administration has fixed Saturday, April 25, for its monthly environmental clean-up activity, which will run from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. across all parts of the state.

Members of the public are encouraged to take part by tidying their homes and surroundings, ensuring proper waste disposal, and backing government efforts to promote a healthier and more orderly environment.

Authorities emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is a shared duty, calling on residents to be proactive in caring for their immediate surroundings in line with public health standards.

Reports indicate that the state had recently reintroduced the programme, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially launching it along the Mushin–Agege Motor Road axis, accompanied by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat.

The initiative, which had been discontinued for several years following a court decision that invalidated movement restrictions during sanitation periods, is now set to hold on the final Saturday of every month from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., with no limitations on movement.

Officials described the renewed effort as a return to a once-celebrated civic tradition, noting that the chosen location for the launch reflected concerns over poor environmental conditions in the area.

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) also confirmed the April schedule via its official X page, urging residents to support the exercise.

The agency encouraged Lagosians to dispose of refuse responsibly, make use of waste bins, and keep their environment clean, stressing that sustained public cooperation is key to achieving a cleaner city.
