BY SUNDAY SAMUEL—The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping plot and arrested three suspects in Karu Local Government Area, following a swift, intelligence-led operation.
According to the Command, the case began on April 31, 2026, when a complaint was lodged at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) over a ₦5 million ransom threat issued by unidentified individuals, who allegedly planned to abduct an agribusiness woman and her children if the demand was not met.
Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohamed, ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation to avert the planned abduction.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects—Prince Eze, 19, and Marwan Salihu, 18—both from Agada Village in Karu LGA. Further investigations resulted in the arrest of Hassan Mathew Yerima, identified as the individual coordinating ransom collection for the group.
Police said the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations, while efforts are underway to track down other members of the syndicate.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
