NBY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR—AIICO Insurance Plc has emerged as the sole representative from the West African sub-region to reach the finals of the 6th Organisation of Eastern and Southern Africa Insurers (OESAI) Quiz Competition sponsored by by Ghana Re.
Beating out tough competition across three weeks of continental rounds, the Nigerian underwriting firm outperformed over 90 participating teams to secure its place among the top 15 finalists in its debut appearance at the prestigious regional contest.
In a letter to the company, the Secretary General of WAICA, Mr. Davis Iyasere, praised the team for reaching the finals in their debut participation in the quiz context. “Reaching the finals in your very first appearance at this prestigious regional competition is a remarkable milestone”.
He also applauded the quiz team members for their superlative display of knowledge, confidence, and determination, as well as the management team that provided the vision and support for this accomplishment.
Speaking further, the WAICA Secretary-General extended the Association’s warmest congratulations on the well-deserved success.
He expressed confidence that the AIICO team would strive for even greater achievements in future regional and international endeavors, adding that the team will also receive a cash prize in recognition of their brilliant performance.
“Apart from the AIICO team, we also commend the teams from Sanlam Life and Sanlam General from Nigeria and the team from Hollard, Ghana for being part of the contest and representing the West Africa well. This is a challenge to other insurance companies to encourage their staff to participate in the quiz,” he added.
Out of 92 teams that entered the competition, AIICO team was among the fifteen teams that made it to finals in a competition that drew out the best from several teams across the continent. The quiz which ran through three weeks was won by the Great Rift of Mosaic – ICEA Lion Assurance of Uganda.
