Amaechi Claims Peter Obi Won Rivers State In 2023 Elections But Results Were Changed

A former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday, 9 August, 2025 claimed that Labour Party (LP), candidate, Peter Obi, won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State, reports Business Today NG.

Amaechi , who was former governor of the stated made this claim on Saturday, 9 August, 2025 speaking during an X Space discussion, added he don’t how the results were changed
“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State.But I don’t know how the results were changed,” Amaechi said.
His comment has brought another dimension to the controversy over the outcome of the February 2023 election.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, under the chairmanship of Prof Mahmood Yakubu announced President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), as the winner.
According to the electoral umpire, the APC garnered 231,591 votes in Rivers State, while LP polled 175,071 votes.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, finished third with 88,468 votes.
