The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed recent allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the reported Edo State shooting, describing the claims as “baseless” and politically motivated.
In a statement, the party accused the ADC of being its “own nemesis,” highlighting internal disorganization, leadership struggles, and a pattern of self-sabotage that undermines its credibility and capacity to operate responsibly within Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a statement, the APC accused the ADC of being its “own nemesis,” pointing to internal disorganization, leadership struggles, and a pattern of self-sabotage that undermines the party’s credibility. According to the APC, the ADC’s claims — made even before any formal investigation by law enforcement — show a disregard for due process and a tendency to create narratives for public sympathy.
The statement further criticised the ADC’s reference to “acts of terrorism” by the APC, calling it reckless, unjustifiable, and insensitive to the sacrifices of Nigeria’s security forces on the frontlines. “Violence of any kind in our political space is unacceptable and must be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians,” the party added.
APC emphasised that the investigation into the Edo shooting should focus on the ADC itself, highlighting factional clashes, leadership disputes, and violent confrontations within the party as potential leads. The ruling party reiterated that it had no involvement in the incident and said it remained focused on consolidating its recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Rivers, and Kano states.
The APC thanked Nigerians for their continued support, particularly the electorate in the FCT, Kano, and Rivers states, and reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous country under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
