The All Progressives Congress has released an updated calendar and outline of activities for the 2027 general elections, revising major internal timelines for screening, primaries, and appeals. It also disclosed specific bank accounts to be used for purchasing nomination forms.
The announcement, made on Monday at the party’s National Secretariat, Buhari House in Abuja, was endorsed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, and separately affirmed by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The party explained that the update aligns with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s revised election timetable. It noted that the new schedule outlines its plans for the upcoming elections.
Under the revised plan, the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms will take place from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while submission of completed documents will end on May 4, 2026.
The screening of candidates is slated for May 6 to May 9, 2026, covering aspirants for State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential positions in stages. Appeals related to screening for State Assembly and House of Representatives candidates will be heard between May 12 and May 13, 2026.
Primary elections are scheduled to commence on May 15, 2026, beginning with contests for the House of Representatives, followed by Senate, State Assembly, governorship, and presidential races, concluding on May 23, 2026.
The APC also announced the fees for nomination forms across different offices: N1 million and N5 million for State Assembly, N1 million and N9 million for the House of Representatives, N3 million and N17 million for Senate, N10 million and N40 million for governorship, and N30 million and N70 million for the presidency. Women, young aspirants, and persons with disabilities are required to pay the Expression of Interest fee and half of the nomination fee for their respective positions.
All payments are to be made into the party’s designated bank accounts.
This revised timetable comes as political parties step up their preparations for the 2027 elections, in line with constitutional and INEC regulations. The APC noted that the adjustments are intended to enhance organization and ensure a more efficient conduct of its nationwide primaries.J
