The taxi driver who last year assaulted and brutalised a personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos State Sector Command but absconded from the scenes has been arrested by the operatives of the Nigeria Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

According to report, Mr Agoola Alabi, who was declared wanted after the incident that led to the injury of Marshal FW IGWE on the 28th September, 2021 along Wempco Road near Sunday Market Ogba, was arrested on Monday, 25th July, 2022 along Ketu-Ikorodu Road near Owode-Onirin. Following the arrest, the offender was handed over to Nigeria Police Area G Ogba where the case was reported.

Meanwhile, his vehicle, a Wagon Volvo with Registration number DE 179 MUS has been impounded at the FRSC Base for necessary legal action against him.

Reacting to the arrest, the Sector Commander, Lagos State, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide commended the Nigeria Police for the diligence shown in securing the offender’s arrest. He also assured members of the intelligence community that FRSC will continue to collaborate and share intelligence with relevant sister security agencies, saying no criminal minded person in the state will go scot-free.

“The arrest of this offender is an indication that more than ever before, security agencies in the state are determined to collaborate with one another to ensure that no criminal minded person in the state escapes the long arms of the law,” the Sector Commander stated.

“I want to thank the Police for the sustained collaboration that has led to this arrest, and I assure the authorities that FRSC will continue to work with all concerned to ensure safety and security of all residents and travellers in the state” he added.
