BY NKECHI NAECHE ESEZOBORAfrica Insurance Women Association, AIWA, on Monday unveiled Speakers for its 2024 AIWA inaugural International Conference for Women in Insurance. 

This ground-breaking event will gather industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the globe to discuss the theme of the Conference “The Future of Insurance: Trends, Challenges, And Opportunities”.

The speakers include Dr. Awele Elumelu, Chairperson AVON Healthcare Limited as Keynote speaker;  Dr. Owen Omogiafor, President/ Group CEO Transcorp Plc; Mansan Dominique Diagou, NSIA Group, Abidjan; Dr.Abiba Zakariah; Mrs Patty-Martin, African Insurance Organisation President/ CEO Nambia Re and Allen Sophia Asiimwe, Chief of Programmes Trade-Mark Africa.

Others are Lawrence Nazare, MD Continental Reinsurance; Lowe Richard, Executive Chairman, ACTIVE Financed and ACTIVE International, Ghana; Wale Akinyemi, Author Consultant Transformer; Mrs Yetunde Ilori, President CIIN; Rashidat Adebisi, Chief Client Officer, AXA Mansard and  Dr. Amany Elmahy, CEO, Misr Insurance. 

The conference will take place from November 2- 6, 2024, at the  Lagos Continental hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. 

Speaking during a press conference held today in Lagos, the president  of AIWA, Mrs. Nkechi Margaret- Moore, said  the conference “will bring together leading minds from across the continent, including policymakers, industry experts, and trailblazers, to chart a new course for African insurance.

“This gathering, from November 2nd to 6th, will delve into crucial issues such as the role of innovation and technology, Cyber and Credit risk protection, the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and gender diversity. 

“This conference is not just about celebrating women in insurance; it is about shaping the future of insurance in Africa. The discussions, insights, and partnerships formed at this event will help define the strategies for making insurance more accessible, innovative, and inclusive across the continent.

“Together, we will pave the way for a more inclusive and progressive insurance sector, ensuring that women’s contribution and leadership are fully recognized.”

Mrs. Ebelechukkwu Nwachukwu,Managing Director, REX Insurance Limited andChairman, Local Organising Committee, noted that the speakers are from different parts of Africa  such as Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’ Ivoire, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya , Egypt, Uganda and  Namibia while  representatives are expected from North Africa, East Africa, central Africa and West Africa.

The Association is dedicated to advancing the role of women in the insurance industry across Africa. It provides a platform for networking, mentorship, and professional development, aiming to foster a more inclusive and innovative insurance sector.
