Benue Govt Orders Ex- Officials To Return Official Vehicles, Diplomatic Passports

The Benue State Government has directed all former commissioners and officials affected by the recent dissolution of the State Executive Council to promptly return all government vehicles and property, diplomatic passports, and official documents in their possession, reports Business Today NG.
The state government directive was contained in a memo dated August 4, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, DCNS. Serumun Deborah Aber Esq.
The memo referenced a resolution made during the Executive Council meeting held on July 30, 2025, which was chaired by Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

The meeting led to the dissolution of the Executive Council, affecting commissioners and the Chief of Staff.
The government reminded the affected officials to return all assets including vehicles, diplomatic passports, and official documents to the appropriate authorities, specifically the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries.
“In this vein, the Head of Service is requested to accordingly direct the Permanent Secretaries who have collected the vehicles to submit them to the Permanent Secretary Government House Administration today, Monday, 4th August 2025 before 12 noon, please.” the memo stated.
The memo reaffirmed the administration commitment to accountability and proper governance, emphasizing the importance of recovering all state-owned assets currently held by former officials.
