CBN Releases Guidelines for Regulation and Supervision of Credit Guarantee Companies in Nigeria

The CBN, as part of its efforts to stimulate lending to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) facilitated the development of guidelines for the establishment and operation of credit guarantee companies in Nigeria. The Guidelines stipulates minimum licensing governance and prudential requirements for prospective credit guarantee companies.

Having reviewed and incorporated comments from various stakeholders, the CBN hereby issues the following Guidelines for the Regulation and Supervision of Credit Guarantee Companies in Nigeria to provide guidance on regulatory expectations from credit guarantee companies in Nigeria.
