As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Cornerstone Insurance Plc Foundation (CIPLCF), has kicked off its free medical outreach across five cities namely Ibadan, Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, and Lagos.

The goal of the healthcare programme is to create strong awareness about the importance of routine medical check-ups and provide traders in various markets with the opportunity to know their health status by undergoing free diabetes and hypertension tests.

Speaking at the launch of the medical outreach in Ifeleye Market, Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo state, the Head Marketing and Corporate Communications, Cordelia Ekeocha said that the gesture was prompted by the prevalence of diabetes and hypertension in the society which have become silent killers’ among the Nigerian populace.

Cordelia who was flanked by the Ibadan Branch Agency Manager, Seun Oguntola, and other staff members said the medical outreach targeted traders in the markets who due to their business engagements rarely devote time to check their medical status.

“As you are aware, health and safety form part of our charitable objectives. This year we’ve decided to move our medical outreach to the markets in a bid to create awareness about the dangers of diabetes and hypertension. Beyond providing free medical check-ups, we are also giving drugs and other corporate gifts at no cost to the traders”, she said.

The Chairman of Ifeleye Spare Parts Market, Oke Padi, Chief Adeolu Osisanwo applauded the initiative as a great step in improving the health and well-being of the market community. He further encouraged the traders to take full advantage of the programme.

“We are pleased to have the Doctors and Nurses in our midst. To be sincere, many of us scarcely find time to go for medical tests due to our business engagements. But today, many traders have done so thanks to the medical team present”, he said.
