A High Court of Lagos State sitting in Ikeja presided over by Justice Justice A.G. Balogun has issued an interim injunction restraining further demolition of properties located on Ojileru Street, Ososa Extension and Toluwalase Street, all within the Itesiwaju Ajumoni Community Development Area (CDA) of Oworonsoki, Lagos.

The order, by justice Balogun directed the respondents, either by themselves or through their agents, contractors or representatives to desist from demolishing, interfering with or creating third-party interests over the disputed properties pending compliance with the pre-action protocol under the High Court of Lagos State (Expeditious Disposal of Civil Cases) Practice Direction No. 2 of 1999.

According to a certified true copy of the court document, the case concerns about 30 hectares of land and has been adjourned to December 9, 2025 for a report of compliance.

The court also mandated the applicants to serve the memorandum of claim and accompanying documents on the respondents within 72 hours of the order’s issuance.

Residents of Ojileru, Ososa and Toluwalase Streets under the Itesiwaju Ajumoni CDA, reacting to the development, publicly denied claims that they had received compensation or taken part in any enumeration exercise linked to the demolition.

In a jointly signed statement, the residents said:“We, the residents of Ojileru Street, Ososa Street, and Toluwalase Street, Oworonsoki, under Itesiwaju Ajumoni CDA, did not collect any compensation from anyone, neither did we fill or enrol in any enumeration form. Our lawyer has served them a High Court injunction to stop further demolition until further notice.”

The community members expressed concern over what they described as an unlawful attempt to dispossess them of their ancestral homes without due consultation or compensation.

They appealed to relevant government authorities to respect the court’s directive and uphold the rule of law.

The injunction, they stressed, remains in full force pending complete compliance with the prescribed pre-action protocols
