Customs KLT Command Intercepts N212 million Codeine, Viagra

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–The Nigeria Customs Service Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command on Thursday said it intercepts 2 x 40ft containers laden with restricted/prohibited drugs concealed with manual blenders with Duty Paid Value of N212,775,950 million.

Briefing the media at the Port Express Terminal of the Command the Area Controller, Comptroller Hammi Swomen, said the
seizure was a product of shared intelligence with other sister agencies.

The 2 x 40FT containers No.s HLBU1067338 and HLBU2239792 were manifested to be carrying HOT POT (INSULATED PLASTIC) but on examination were found to contain the following;
1. 2,493 cartons of cough syrup with codeine (100ml).
2. 2. 383 cartons of Barcadin with Codeine (100ml).
49 cartons of Hyegra (Viagra 220mg) 3.
4. 4. 99 cartons of Delux chilly cutter (manual blender) l.

The Command added that the frugs which originated from India does not have NAFDAC approval number. It was labelled “for export only” and has a total Duty Paid Value of N212,775,950.



On revenue performance, the command said it  generated a total N3,774,386,866 billion in the month of January 2022 when compared to N2,501,324,171billion collected as revenue in January 2021 with a surplus of N1,273,062,675 which represents a 34% increase in revenue generated.
