The funeral ceremony for the late Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, will be conducted at 10am in Gondomar on Saturday, 5 July, 2025.

A local priest, Father Jose Manuel Macedo, had initially announced that it would take place at 4pm on Friday, 4 July, 2025

Father Macedo eventually made a U-turn and said the event had been put back to Saturday morning.

According to The UK Mirror reports ,  the delay is due to minor paperwork issues, which have to be sorted out before the player’s family can repatriate the bodies.

A wake-keep would hold at the Sao Cosme Chapel, before the funeral mass on Saturday morning at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar – the Catholic church next door.

The 28-year-old tragically lost his life in car accident in the early hours of Thursday, 3 July, 2025, as he travelled in Spain with  his brother, Andre Silva.
