Eight Suspects Escape From Police Custody In Bauchi

Eight suspects in custody for various offenses have escaped from their cell in the early hours of August 8, 2025.

According to Zagazola Makama, who made the disclosure on his X handle today said that the detainees broke out of their cell around 12:20 a.m.
“They forcefully opened the nearby exit door and fled to an unknown location,” Makama wrote.
Following the escape, a rapid response patrol and divisional surveillance teams were immediately deployed to search for the fugitives.
“One of the escapees, identified as Abdullahi Haliru, has since been rearrested,” he added, adding that uthorities have circulated alerts to help capture the remaining seven escapees, and the search is ongoing.
